Ground Breaking Ceremony - BWA New Headquarters
February 2012 - Barbados – The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management and the Barbados Water Authority, hosted the ground breaking ceremony for the BWA’s New Headquarters at The Pine, St. Michael. The event was attended by Dr. the Hon. David Estwick, M.P., Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Members of Cabinet, the Board, Management and Staff of the BWA, in addition to representatives from Innotech Services Ltd and other specially invited guests.
Minister Estwick was the featured speaker and in his speech he disclosed that the construction of the new 80,500 square foot, state-of-the-art facility, will be completed in about two years and will be central to improving the operations of the BWA. The Minister noted that the staff of the BWA has for some time operated out of a number of different locations throughout the island and this has lead to some level of fragmentation and inefficiencies in the BWA’s operations. He went on to assert that, upon completion, the BWA’s staff will be centrally housed in the new headquarters and noted that in addition to better accommodation for the staff, he anticipated improved customer service and more organised and efficient operations. Additionally, the Minister stressed that “with the new facility the Barbadian public can expect a significant improvement in service delivery from the Barbados Water Authority”.
Innotech Services Ltd was awarded ‘Preferred Bidder’ status on this project in November 2011 and is currently conducting stage two negotiations with the employer towards achieving financial and contract close in March 2012, thereafter becoming the Service Provider for the Design, Finance, Build, and Maintain of the facility over a period of twenty-five (25) years.
